Charity of the Month
Get Well Gang
|

The Get Well Gang seeks to "warm both the heads and the hearts of patients undergoing cancer treatment." The organization began in 2003 when founder Gretchen Huntley's close friend, Celeste Rausch, passed away from cancer. Rausch's treatment caused hair loss, which she always concealed with a hat. Unfortunately, all of her hats were uncomfortable and unflattering. After Rausch passed away, Huntley dedicated herself to making comfortable, beautiful hats for cancer patients. What began with just six hats delivered to a cancer center has expanded enormously. To date, the Get Well Gang has donated over 12,000 hats throughout Canada and the United States. |
