 Each month, we highlight an organization reaching people through yarncrafts. This month, we're highlighting DonorsChoose.org, a special online charity that connects visitors directly to classrooms in need. American public school teachers use the site to propose projects ranging from purchasing art supplies to teaching children to read. Each project includes a detailed expense report so that donors know exactly how their funds are being used. Donors select the amount they wish to give, and the DonorsChoose.org team ships the requested supplies directly to the school. After each project is fully funded, teachers photograph their projects in action and share thank-you notes.
To do our part, we have selected 12 yarn-related projects to help promote crafting with kids. These activities boost self-esteem, enhance motor skills, and express creativity. We will begin by donating $120 divided among the different causes. With your help, we hope to raise the $3,700 to fully fund all of these projects.
