When making socks with self-striping yarn, I like to make sure my socks look the same with the pattern matching. When I pull out the yarn to cast on for the first sock, I also pull the yarn out of the second ball of yarn and match it to the first, being sure the patterns are the same. I then tie a loop in the second piece of yarn to show me where to start casting on for the second sock. Matching socks every time!
