This block has only been worked in two colors but it could easily be adapted to four colors. As only two colors appear on any one row the number of yarn changes will not increase.

Foundation Chain: With A, ch 36.
Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in next 5 ch, ch 1, skip 1 ch, dc in next ch, ch 1, skip 1 ch, dc in next 7 ch, change to B, dc in next 7 ch, ch 1, skip 1 ch, dc in next ch, ch 1, skip 1 ch, dc in next 7 ch – 30 dc with 4 skipped chs.
Row 2: With B, ch 3 (counts as dc), turn, dc in next 6 sts, ch 1, skip 1 ch, dc in next dc, ch 1, skip 1 ch, dc in next 7 sts, change to A, dc in next 7 sts, ch 1, skip 1 ch, dc in next dc, ch 1, skip 1 ch, dc in next 7 sts.
Row 3: With A, ch 3 (counts as dc), turn, dc in next 6 sts, ch 1, skip 1 ch, dc in next dc, ch 1, skip 1 ch, dc in next 7 sts, change to B, dc in next 7 sts, ch 1, skip 1 ch, dc in next dc, ch 1, skip 1 ch, dc in next 7 sts.
Row 4: With B, ch 4 (counts as dc, ch 1), turn, skip first dc, dc in next dc, (ch 1, skip next st, dc in next st) 7 times, change to A, dc in next st, (ch 1, skip next st, dc in next st) 8 times.
Row 5: With A, ch 4 (counts as dc, ch 1), turn, skip first st, dc in next st, (ch 1, skip next st, dc in next st) 7 times, change to B, dc in next st, (ch 1, skip next st, dc in next st) 8 times.
Row 6: Repeat Row 2.
Row 7: Repeat Row 3.
Rows 8 and 9: Repeat Row 2.
Row 10: Repeat Row 3.
Row 11: Repeat Row 2.
Row 12: Repeat Row 5.
Row 13: Repeat Row 4.
Row 14: Repeat Row 3.
Row 15: Repeat Row 2.
Row 16: Repeat Row 3.
