Crochet Block: Circles and Bobbles

This is a very versatile block. Make nine flowers and join them to make a block; bead the first round; make the flowers in different colors-- several block possibilities from one pattern.

Block 1 (top right) Foundation chain: Using yarn A, make a slip knot. Rnd 1 (right side): Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), dc 7 times into the slip knot, join with a sl st in top of beg-ch-3-- 8 dc. Turn. Rnd 2: Ch 2 (counts as 1 sc), 1sc into each st, join in yarn B, join with a sl st in top of beg-ch-2.Turn. Rnd 3: Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), dc into the base chain, 2dc into each st, join with a sl st in top of beg-ch-3-- 16 dc.Turn. Rnd 4: Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), dc into the base chain, 2dc into each st, join in yarn C, join with a sl st in top of beg-ch-3-- 32 dc.Turn. Rnd 5: Ch 2 (counts as 1 sc), 1sc into the next st, 1hdc into each of the next 2 sts, [2dc, ch 2, 2dc] into the next st, *1hdc into the next 2 sts, 1 sc into each of the next 3 sts, 1hdc into each of the next 2 sts, [2dc, ch 2, 2dc] into the next st, rep from * twice more, 1hdc into the next 2 sts, 1 sc into the next st, join with a sl st in top of beg-ch-2.Turn. Rnd 6: Ch 2 (counts as 1 sc), 1sc into each of the next 5 sts, [1sc, ch 2, 1sc] into the next sp, *1sc into each of the next 11 sts, [1sc, ch 2, 1sc] into the next sp, rep from * twice more, 1sc into each of the next 6 sts, join with a sl st in top of beg-ch-2.

Fasten off yarn.

Block 2 (top left) Work as for block 1 in the following color sequence: Foundation chain: D. Rnd 1- 2: D. Rnd 3- 4: A. Rnd 5- 6: C.

Block 3 (bottom left) Work as for block 1 in the following color sequence: Foundation chain: A. Rnd 1- 2: A. Rnd 3- 4: D. Rnd 5- 6: C.

Block 4 (bottom right) Work as for block 1 in the following color sequence: Foundation chain: B. Rnd 1- 2: B. Rnd 3- 4: A. Rnd 5- 6: D. Join the blocks together using the photograph as reference.
