Crochet Block: All In A Row

Stripes with a difference! Work the single crochet stitches randomly with scraps of yarn from other blocks in the afghan or echo a sequence of colors found elsewhere. Beading the single crochet stitches by threading the beads onto the yarn is a possible variation to this design.

Foundation chain: Using yarn A, ch 30.

Row 1 (wrong side): yo, insert the hook into the 4th ch from the hook, work 1dc this completes the first 2 sts. 1dc into each of the ch to the end—28 sts. Turn. Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as 1dc), 1dc into each st to the end of the row, work the last dc into the top of the beg-ch, using both yarn A and yarn B for the final yo and draw through the of the st. Draw out the yarn A loop on the hook and let it hang free. Turn. Row 3: Using yarn B, ch 2 (counts as 1sc), 1sc into the flp of each st to the end of the row, work the last sc into the bottom of the beg-ch. Fasten off yarn B. Using yarn A at the beg of the row, ch 3 (counts as 1dc), 1dc into the blp of each st on the previous row to the end of the row, work the last dc into the top of the beg-ch. Rows 4 - 5: Rep rows 2 - 3 with yarns A and C, C replacing yarn B. Rows 6 - 7: Rep rows 2 - 3 with yarns A and D, D replacing yarn B. Row 8: Ch 3 (counts as 1dc), 1dc into each st to the end of the row, work the last dc into the top of the beg-ch. Row 9: Rep row 8. Rows 10 - 11: Rep rows 2 - 3 with yarns A and E, E replacing yarn B. Rows 12 - 13: Rep rows 2 - 3 with yarns A and F, F replacing yarn B. Rows 14 - 15: Rep rows 2 - 3 with yarns A and D, D replacing yarn B. Row 16: Rep row 8. Fasten off yarn A.

Color Variation: Work all the single crochet stitches in yarn B.
