GAUGE:
20 sts = 4 in. (10 cm) in Garter st (k every row). When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles. Making a Gauge Swatch
Exact gauges is not imporant to this project.

STITCH EXPLANATION:
V-STITCH EMBROIDERY
V-st Embroidery is worked back and forth between adjoining Strips to join, then across color change lines.

V-Stitch Embroidery is worked in 2 steps:

Step 1
Thread large-eyed blunt needle with a length of C, doubled.

Working from left to right, work diagonal sts (as when doing cross stitch), spaced about 1/4 in.

(1 cm) apart, across seam or color change line.
/ / / / /

Step 2
Working from right to left, and inserting needle into same spaces (beginning and ending points) as Step 1 sts, work diagonal sts in the opposite direction of Step 1 sts.

\ \ \ \ \
When completed, Step 1 and Step 2 stitches will form a "\/"
