GAUGE:

13 sts + 19 rows to 4" (10 cm) over St st.

When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Making a Gauge Swatch

NOTES:

St st = K on RS, p on WS in rows; k every round for rnds.

Top-Down Cardigan Reviewed by Andrea Ribera on 2012-02-10 ****
This in my first adult sweater and I love the ease of the top down construction. I found the upper arms to be too wide and bulky so re-did them with my own version of a decrease pattern and also changed to a smaller needle size to do the ribbing on the sleeves so they would be tighter. Very happy with this and it fit!!
