Additional Materials
Size 10.5 double pointed needles
12 sts + 18 rows = 4" (10 cm) over St st (k on all rounds) with larger needles. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles. Making a Gauge Swatch
Exact gauges is not imporant to this project.

The body and sleeves of this sweater are knit seperately in the round to the underarms, then joined together for the yoke and knit to the neck.

BODY using smaller needle, cast on 120 (132, 144, 156, 168) sts.

Join in circle, making sure not to twist the sts, and place marker (PM) to indicate the beginning of rnd.

Work in k1, p1 rib for 2".

Change to larger needles and work in St st.

until piece measures 13 1/2 (14, 14, 15, 15)" from beg (or desired length to underarm).

Stop knitting 5 (5, 6, 6, 7) sts before the marker.

Don't break yarn and set aside.

SLEEVES (make 2)
Using smaller DPNs, cast on 24 (26, 28, 32, 34) sts, join in circle and PM to indicate beg of rnd.

Work in k1, p1 rib for 2".

Change to larger DPNs [switching to circular needle as soon as possible], and working in St st, inc 1 st either side of marker on next rnd and every 4 rnds 0(0,0,2,4) times, then every 6 rounds 9(11,10,9,8) times.

AT SAME TIME, work in pattern Rnds 3-7 of chart immediately following rib (and, on sizes L and 2X ONLY, in 1 st anywhere on row 7), then continue in St st and MC until sleeve measures 17(17,17,17 1/2, 17 1/2)" or desired length from beg-44(46,51,56,61) sts.

Stop knitting 5(5,6,6,7)sts before marker and slip next 10(11,12,13,14) sts to holder.

Break yarn.

Join sleeves to body Slip next 10(11,12,13,14) sts of body to holder and using MC and larger needle, k 34(35,39,43,47) sts of sleeve, k 50(55,60,65,70) sts of body, slip next 10(11,12,13,14) body sts to holder, k 34(35,39,43,47) sts from 2nd sleeve, then rem 50(55,60,65,70) sts from body - 168(180,198,216,234) sts PM.

Work in St st and chart pattern, decreasing, changing to shorter needle when necessary as follows:

Not all rnds will decrease evenly.

Don't worry, you will adjust stitch count for pattern in following rnds.

After decreases, the st patterns will NOT line up vertically as charted.

They will, however, work out evenly.]
Dec Rnd 26 (K 2, k2tog) around - 126 (135,149,162,176) sts.

Rnd 30 Dec 2 (3, 1, 2, 0) evenly accross rnd - 124 (132,148,160,176) sts.

Dec Rnd 36 (K 1, k2tog) around - 83 (88,99,107,118) sts.

Rnd 40 Inc 1 (0, inc 1, inc 1, dec 2) evenly accross rnd - 84 (88,100, 108, 116) sts.

Rnd 46 (K 1, k2tog twice) around - 51 (53, 60, 65, 70) sts.

Rnd 47 Dec 1 (1,2,3,2) evenly across rnd - 50 (52,58,62,68) sts.

Finish working chart, then change to smaller 16" needle and, with Color A, work k1, p1 rib for 1".

Bind off loosely in rib.

Graft body and sleeve underarms sts tog.

Weave in ends.
