GAUGE:
10 stitches x 15 1/4 rows = 4 inches [1- cm] BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you less stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
Exact gauges is not imporant to this project.

NOTES:
Measure the circumference of your shade both top and bottom. Measure the height. The shade shownis 10 1/4" high with 31 1/4" top circumference and 44" bottom circumference. Adjust thispattern as needed to fit. Knit the piece about an inch higher than the actual lampshade measurements. Knit a nice loosestockinette stitch so it will have a lot of stretch. Begin your pattern with the largestcircumference. The pattern for the item shown piece is as follows, but you can place stripes as yousee fit. It is great to have them be thin, fuzzy and widely spaced. Hold your work up to the shadeas you knit to make sure things are right. Adapt as your lampshade requires:
