16 sts + 16 rows = 4" (10 cm) in single crochet. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. LARGE SQUARE – Make 1 in each of 12 color combinations Combination I With A [ • ] ch 30.

Row 1 Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each sc across, using B [ / ] to complete last st – 29 sc.

Row 2 With B, ch 1, turn.

Sc in first st; with A, sc across to last st; with B, sc in last st.

Continue in sc, following chart for 29 rows.

Fasten off.

Make 11 more squares in the following color combinations:

With F ch 14.

*Row 1 Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each st across; complete last st with C – 13 sc.

Row 2 With C, ch 1, turn; sc in first st.

With F, sc across to last st.

With C, sc in last st.

Continue in sc following chart for a total of 13 rows.

When chart has been completed, continue for 29 rows in the following Stripe Sequence E, 1 row; A, 2 rows; E, 1 row; B, 2 rows; E, 1 row; F, 1 row; D, 2 rows; F, 1 row; A, 2 rows; C, 1 row; B, 2 rows; C, 1 row; E, 2 rows; F, 1 row; D, 2 rows; F, 1 row; A, 2 rows; E, 1 row; B, 2 rows; E, 1 row.

Rep from * 3 times more, then work 13 rows of chart.

Fasten off.

With E, ch 14.

Row 1 Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each st across – 13 sc.

Continue 29-row Stripe Sequence above.

Fasten off.

ASSEMBLY NOTE [arrow] Turn designated square sideways.

[hs] = Horizontal strip.

[vs] = Vertical strip.

Sew one horizontal strip [hs] at bottom of Square I; between Squares I, II, III and IV; and above Square IV, placing Row 1 of strip at right edge of square.

Repeat for other 2 columns as shown.

When 3 columns of squares are complete, sew vertical strips [vs] as per diagram.

With RS facing, attach F at any corner.

Sc evenly around so that work lays flat, working 3 sc in each corner.

Continue in sc for 3 rnds more, working 3 sc in each corner, each rnd.

Fasten off.
