GAUGE:
10.5 sts and 24 rows = 4" (10 cm) in Garter st (knit every row). Each strip = 10" wide x 56" long (25.5 x 142.25 cm) When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles. Making a Gauge Swatch
Exact gauges is not imporant to this project.

STITCH EXPLANATION:
Inc 1 (increase 1 stitch) Knit into the top loop of the purl st of the row below the next st on left needle (inserting needle point from bottom up into purled head of st); then knit into the front of next st on left needle.

Dec 1 (decrease 1 stitch) ssk (slip, slip, knit) Slip next 2 sts as if to knit, one at a time, to right needle; insert left needle into fronts of these 2 sts and k them tog.

NOTES:
All colors are worked for 20 rows, each as described below.
