GAUGE:
22 sts + 28 rnds = 4” [10 cm] in St st (k every rnd) on larger needle. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. STITCH EXPLANATION:
M1 (make 1): An increase worked by lifting horizontal thread lying between needles and placing it onto left needle.

Work this new stitch through the back loop.



STITCH PATTERN Berry Stitch (multiple of 4 sts) Rnd 1 *(P 1, yo, p 1) in 1 st, k3tog; repeat from *.

Rnd 2 Purl.

Rnd 3 *K3tog, (p 1, yo, p 1) in 1 st; repeat from *.

Rnd 4 Purl.

Repeat Rnds 1-4 for Berry st pattern.


INSTRUCTIONS



CAPELET

With smaller needle, cast on 310 sts.

Place marker and join, being careful not to twist.

Work in K1, P1 Rib for 3/4” [2 cm].

Change to larger needle and knit 1 rnd, decreasing 30 sts evenly spaced – 280 sts.

Knit even for 1 1/2” [4 cm].

Next Rnd: *K 5, M1; repeat from * – 336 sts.

Work Rnds 1-4 of Berry st 5 times.

Next Rnd: *(P 1, k 1) in 1 st, k3tog; repeat from * – 252 sts.

Knit even for 1” [2.5 cm].

Next Rnd: *(K 6, M1) 20 times, k 6; repeat from * – 292 sts.

Work Rnds 1-4 of Berry st 5 times.

Next Rnd: *K 1, k3tog; repeat from * – 146 sts.

Knit 5 rnds.



Shape Front Neck: K 65, bind off 15 sts, k to end of rnd.

K 65; turn.

Piece is now worked back and forth in St st, with neckline marking beg and end of row.

Bind off 3 sts at beg of next 2 rows.

Bind off 2 sts at beg of next 2 rows.

Bind off 1 st at beg of next 4 rows – 117 sts.

Purl 1 row.

Next Row (RS): *K2tog, k 1; repeat from * – 78 sts.

Purl 1 row.

Bind off 1 st at beg of next 6 rows – 72 sts.

Next Row (RS): *K2tog, k 1; repeat from * – 48 sts.

Change to smaller, shorter needle.

With same yarn, pick up and knit 36 sts across Front Neck – 84 sts.

Work in K2, P2 Rib for 8 1/2” [21.5 cm].

Bind off.
