Northern Lights Wrap

Lion Brand® Moonlight Mohair - Trellis®

GAUGE:

13 stitches + 14 rows = 4" [10 cm] in Stockinette stitch (knit on right side, purl on wrong side) with 1 strand each of A and B held together. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

NOTES:

1 strand of each yarn is held together throughout.

SCARF/STOLE
With 1 strand each of A and B held together, cast on 39 stitches.
Rows 1-6 Knit.
Row 7 Knit.
Row 8 Knit 4, purl 31, knit 4.
Repeat Rows 7 and 8 until piece measures 69" [175.5 cm].
Repeat Rows 1-6.
Bind off all stitches. Weave in ends.

FRINGE
Wrap both yarns around an 8" [20.5 cm] wide piece of cardboard. Cut across one end. Use 2 strands of each yarn for each fringe. Fold strands in half and, with crochet hook, pull fold through Scarf, forming a loop. Pull ends of fringe through this loop. Pull to tighten. Place fringes approximately 1" [2.5 cm] apart across both narrow ends of Scarf.

Northern Lights Wrap Reviewed by Bonnie Sharpless on 2009-03-20 *****
I was about 6 inches into this when I already knew I wanted to make another one! The color combo is so beautiful and shimmery, it looks like ice and snow. I figure it would look really beautiful in the silver/black color combo, too, so I've just bought the stuff to make that, even though I'm not quiet done with this one yet.

It doesn't look anything like you think it will; it really doesn't look like either yarn but rather a unique combination...sparkly from the Moonlight Mohair, shimmery from the Trellis. And the Mohair gives it some fuzziness, but the tightness of the stitches seems to keep it under control.

It does seem like it would be scratchy/itchy if you wore it next to your skin, though.
