French Flair Scarf and Beret

Lion Brand® Jiffy® Thick & Quick® - Fun Fur®

8 sts + 10 rows = 4" [10 cm] in Stockinette st (k on RS, p on WS) with MC on larger needles. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Making a Gauge Swatch

When changing yarn, pick up next color yarn under strand(s) of previous yarn. Use moderate tension (not tight) at edge where yarns change so piece will hang evenly.

With MC, cast on 13 sts.
Rows 1-6
With MC, knit.
Rows 7-8
With 2 strands of CC held together, knit.
Rows 9-12
With MC, knit.
Rows 13-14
With 2 strands of CC held together, knit. Repeat Rows 9-14 for 30 times, or to desired length. With MC, knit 6 rows. Bind off.

Cut 52 strands of MC approximately 12" [30.5 cm] long. For each fringe, hold 2 strands of yarn and fold in half. Use crochet hook to draw fold through each stitch at end of Scarf, forming a loop. Pull ends of fringe through this loop. Pull to tighten. Trim fringe if necessary.

With smaller needles and MC, cast on 33 sts.

Row 31 (Dec Row)
K5tog. Cut yarn, leaving a long tail. Fasten off last stitch by pulling tail through last st.

With tail, sew back seam.

Make "button" at crown by tying 1 strand of yarn around outside base of knob created by last stitches; weave ends inside Beret.

Great pattern.

For the Hat, it is small, therefore I cast 35 sts and used exactly material advised and the outcome look great. I made this set 4 times in 4 different type of yarn and the outcome is excellent. Thanks a lot.
