OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE
One 12 in. [30.5 cm] pillow form
12.75 single crochets + 16 rows = 4" [10cm]. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
Making a Gauge Swatch
Exact gauges is not imporant to this project.
Row 1 establishes right side.
Work in single crochet rows.
PILLOW SIDES - Make 2
Row 1 Single crochet in 2nd chain from hook and in each remaining chain, turn- 40 single crochets.
Row 2-51 Chain 1, single crochet in each single crochet across, turn.
On first piece, fasten off at end of Row 51.
On 2nd piece, do not fasten off.
Weave in end of both pieces.
Place pieces together with right sides facing out and top and bottom reversed (beginning chain row of 1 piece lined up with last row of other piece).
Working through stitches of both pieces, single crochet in each stitch or end of row around, working (single crochet, chain 2, single crochet) at each corner, for 3 sides.
Insert pillow form and continue across remaining side.
