16 sts + 18 rows = 4 inches [10 cm] in Seed st. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. Work 4 rows in Seed st.

Bind off.


Weave in ends.

Fold piece with WS tog to form a 7-inch [18 cm] deep hat with a 3 1/2 inches [9 cm] flap.

Sew side seams beg at the top and sewing until 2 inches [5 cm] from the fold.

Flatten side seam and top of hat and, from WS, sew across, forming an upside-down "T".
