5 sc = 3 inches [7.5 cm] with larger hook.
7 rnds = 4 inches [10 cm] with larger hook. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. I used Hometown USA yarn. When I got to the point where the pattern says it should measure 11 inches, I had to go a few more rounds of sc, mine was about 9 inches. On the last round at the opening I used bpsc to make a band then I did the brim. I thought it turned out good. I probably could have made it bigger and more slouchy. I'm a beginner.
