GAUGE:
16 sts + 20 rows = 4" [10 cm] in Stockinette st (k on RS, p on WS) before felting. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you less stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
Exact gauges is not imporant to this project.
INSTRUCTIONS
SCARF
With B, cast on 24 sts.
Rows 1, 3, and 5 (RS) Knit.
Rows 2, 4, and 6 (WS) Purl.
Rows 7-12 With A, rep Rows 1-6.
Ruffle Row With B, *k 10; turn; p 10; turn; rep from * 2 more times (NoteEyelets will be formed at inside edge of Ruffle)
Rows 13-18 Rep Rows 7-12.
Continue as established, working Ruffle after every 6 rows, until only a few yards ofyarns remain (about 44 Ruffles will have been completed); end with Row 18. Bindoff. Weave in ends.
FELTING
Wash by machine on a hot wash/cold rinse cycle with detergent and severalpieces of clothing to agitate. To felt additionally, dry by machine on a regularsetting until almost dry. Remove from dryer and pull into shape.
