Fast Finish Throw

Lion Brand® Homespun®

4 sts = 4 in. [10 cm] in Stockinette stitch (knit on right side rows, purl on wrong side rows) with 4 strands of yarn held together. Due to the nature of the fabric when working with Speed Stix, gauge may vary throughout the knitting and is not crucial to this project. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Making a Gauge Swatch

Editor’s Note: When creating fringe using Homespun please note that because of the texture of the yarn the fringe will fray when cut. If you prefer a non-frayed look you can knot the ends, knit or crochet a fringe, or use hairspray or fray check.

With 2 strands of A and 1 strand each of B and C (4 strands total) held together, cast on 34 stitches.
Row 1 (Right Side): Knit.
Row 2: Purl. Repeat Rows 1 and 2 until piece measures 54 in. [137 cm]. Bind off.

Weave in ends.

Cut 136 strands of A and 68 strands each of B and C about 20 in. [52 cm] long. For each Fringe, hold 2 strands of A and 1 strand each of B and C (4 strands total) together and fold in half. Use crochet hook to draw fold through edge of Throw, forming a loop. Pull ends of Fringe through this loop. Pull ends to tighten. Make one Fringe in each stitch along first and last rows of Throw. Trim Fringe ends evenly.

Fast Finish Throw Reviewed by DEB RIDGEWAY on 2015-06-18 ****
I really like this pattern. I followed the suggestions of JC Seip, who reviewed this same pattern on another example; to prevent the curl I knit the 1st and last 5 rows, and also the 1st and last 3 stitches of each row. I also used size 35 needles (circulars but worked as straights, which helped balance the weight. I increased the cast on number from 35 to 45 to get a wider fabric. For this example I used 4 cream and 4 olive of the Homespun. I am making another one using 4 cream, 2 Edwardian and 2 Golden.
