Make-a-Statement Hat

GAUGE:
9 sts + 12 rows = 4 in. [10 cm] in Stockinette st (k on RS, p on WS).
Note: Hat and lining are made in one piece, then lining is folded to
inside of hat. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
HAT Beg at crown of hat, cast on 6 sts. Row 1(RS): K into the front and back of each st 12 sts. Row 2 And All Even Rows: Purl. Row 3: *K 1, inc1; repeat from * across row 18 sts. Row 5: *K 2, inc1; repeat from *across row 24 sts. Row 7: *K 3, inc1; repeat from * across row 30 sts. Row 9: *K 4, inc1; repeat from * across row 36 sts. Row 11: *K 5, inc 1; repeat from * across row 42 sts. Row 13: *K 6, inc1; repeat from * across row 48 sts. Next Row: * K 1, p 1, rep from * across row. Next Row: K the k sts, p the p sts.
Continue in k 1, p 1 rib for 18 in. [46 cm].
Shape Lining
Row 1:
*K 6, k2 tog, repeat from * across row 42 sts. Row 2 And All Even Rows: Knit. Row 3: *K 5, k2 tog, repeat from * across row 36 sts. Row 5: *K 4, k2 tog, repeat from * across row 30 sts. Row 7: *K 3, k2 tog, repeat from * across row 24 sts. Row 9: *K 2, k2 tog, repeat from * across row 18 sts. Row 11: *K 1, k2 tog, repeat from * across row 12 sts. Row 13: * K2 tog, repeat from * across row 6 sts.
Cut yarn leaving a long end. Thread end through remaining sts, draw tightly tog,
and fasten off.
FINISHING
Sew seam. Fold lining inside of hat. Tack hat and lining tog at crown. Weave
in ends. Fold brim to RS.

love,,,love, this pattern. It is a great hat. and easy to make. I have make 4 hats already. Love the yarn and the colors are so rich and warm colors. I will be making more of these hats. Fast and easy will make great gifts.
