GAUGE:

24 sts + 32 rows = 4 in. [10 cm] in St st (k on RS, p on WS) on smaller needles. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

STITCH EXPLANATION:

  • 2/2 LC (2 over 2 left cross) Slip 2 sts to cable needle and hold in front, k 2, then k 2 from cable needle.
  • 2/2 RC (2 over 2 right cross) Slip 2 sts to cable needle and hold in back, k 2, k 2 from cable needle.
  • ssk (slip, slip, knit) Slip next 2 sts as if to knit, one at a time, to right needle; insert left needle into fronts of these 2 sts and k them tog.

Downloadable Pattern: Sweet Sophisticate Baby Set Reviewed by Ellen Barnett on 2009-03-18 *****
I have made this sweater and hat 3 times with Microspun. The sweater comes out so exceptionally beautiful that you just can't help making it again! I have given them as gifts, and no one can believe it was hand-made. Also, Microspun is a lovely yarn that knits up soft, even, and has nice stitch definition. I will definitely make this again.
