GAUGE:

16 sts + 22 rows = 4 in. [10 cm] in St st (k on RS, p on WS). When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Making a Gauge Swatch

Bright Baby Cardigan Reviewed by PENNY on 2011-03-02 ****
I made the jacket/cardigan .The instructions were clear & straightforward. However, there is alot of finishing work, once the 5 pieces are completed, for example, all the seams need to be sewn flat...a caveat for those who want to "get done"! Also, I felt that working with Incredible on #8 needles was more of a challenge than when used on #15(ie) for a scarf & would probably give a novice knitter a run for his/her money at the beginning.

I also felt that the size 18 months was very small. In addition, it took 3 balls of Incredible, not 2 as stated for the largest size.
