Lion Brand® Wool-Ease®
GAUGE: 20 sts + 28 rows = 4 in. [10 cm] in St st (k on right side, p on wrong side). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you less stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

MITTENS
With B , cast on 22 sts.
Row 1: * K 2, p 2; repeat from * across, end k 2.
Row 2: K the k sts, p the p sts.
Repeat last 2 rows once.
Change to A and St st.
Next Row: K 4, * inc in next st, k 3, rep from * twice, inc in next st, k 5 – 26 sts.
Purl 1 row.
Next Row: K 1, inc 1, k to last 2 sts, inc 1, k 1 – 28 sts.
Purl 1 row.
Next Row: K 1, inc 1, k to last 2 sts, inc 1, k 1 – 30 sts.
Purl 1 row.
Cut yarn and slip first 4 and last 4 sts to a holder for thumb.
Re-join A and work 12 rows in St st on 22 sts.
Dec Row 1: K 2, * k2tog, k 2; repeat from * across – 17 sts.
Purl 1 row.
Dec Row 2: K 1, * k2tog, k 1; repeat from * across, end k2tog – 12 sts.
Dec Row 3: (P2tog) across – 6 sts.
Dec Row 4: (K2tog) across – 3 sts.
Dec Row 5: P3tog.
Fasten off last st.
Thumb
Slip 8 sts from holder back to needle. Join A and, beg with a knit row, work 4 rows in St st.
Next Row: (K2tog) across.
Next Row: (P2tog) twice.
Next Row: K2tog. Fasten off last st.
FINISHING
Sew side and thumb seams.
Hanging Loop
With A, cast on 20 sts. Bind off. Fold piece in half and sew ends inside Mitten.
