GAUGE:
5 (dc, ch 2, dc) + 9 rows = 9 in. [23 cm]. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you less stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
Exact gauges is not imporant to this project.
INSTRUCTIONS
SHAWL
First Half
Ch 39, place marker in 3rd ch from hook to mark st placement for secondhalf.
Row 1 (RS): (Dc, ch 2, dc) in 6th ch from hook, *sk next 2 ch, (dc, ch 2,dc) in next ch; rep from * across to last 3 chs, sk next 2 chs, dc in last ch- 24 dc and 11 ch-2 sp.
Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as dc), turn, (dc, ch 2, dc) in each ch-2 sp across,dc in top of turning ch - 24 dc and 11 ch-2 sp.
Repeat Row 2 until piece measures 36 in. [91.5 cm] from beg.
Fasten off.
Second Half
With RS facing and working in free loops of beg ch, join yarn with slip stin first ch, ch 3, sk next 2 ch, *(dc, ch 2, dc) in next ch, sk next 2 ch; repfrom * across to marked ch, dc in marked ch - 24 dc and 11 ch-2 sp.
Complete Second Half same as First Half. Shawl should measure a total of 72 in.[183 cm]. Fasten off.
FINISHING
Weave in ends.
