GAUGE:

16 sts + 20 rows = 4 in. [10 cm] over pattern. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you less stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Lace Wrap Reviewed by Kathleen Cameron on 2008-03-13 *****
This pattern knits up beautifully! I highly recommend the Cotton Ease --- it is lovely. I did run across a couple of splits in the yarn but nothing troublesome. It is so soft and the colors are lovely. I am using the Maize for this shawl and it is turning out really nice!

The only thing I would consider is the size of the needle. I am more or less and "average" knitter with a slight tendency to knit tight (I am still a beginner). The size 8 needle is fairly tight on this pattern, and the 10 was a little bit loose. I went with the 9's and it looks good. However, the 9's are not as loose as the picture here, so the next one I make I will probably use the 10's. I did knit a couple of swatches first but didn't get as serious about the gauge since this is not a fitted garment.

Try it -- you will like it!
