GAUGE: 8 hdc + 6 rows = 4 in. [10 cm].
BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

SHAWL
Ch 3.
Row 1: Work 2 hdc in 3rd ch from hook.
Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as hdc and ch 1, here and throughout), turn, 2 hdc in first hdc, hdc in
next hdc, ch 1, hdc in top of turning ch – 5 hdc + 2 ch-1 sps.
Row 3: Ch 3, turn, hdc in first ch-1 sp, 2 hdc in next hdc, hdc in each of next 2 hdc, ch 1,
hdc in last ch-1 sp – 7 hdc + 2 ch-1 sps.
Row 4: Ch 3, turn, hdc in first ch-1 sp, 2 hdc in next hdc, hdc in each hdc across to last
ch-1 sp, ch 1, hdc in last ch-1 sp – 9 hdc + 2 ch-1 sps.
Repeat Row 4, increasing 2 hdc every row, until Shawl measures 35 in. [89 cm] from beginning. Fasten
off.
FINISHING
Weave in ends.
FRINGE
Cut 16 in. [40.5 cm] lengths of yarn, one for each space along lower edges of Shawl. For each
Fringe, fold 1 strand of yarn in half. Use crochet hook to draw fold through space along edge of
Shawl, forming a loop. Pull ends of Fringe through this loop. Pull to tighten. Attach Fringe in each
space along lower edges of Shawl. Trim Fringe evenly. |

| I love this shawl, I made it in a few hours,but cutting and putting on the fringe was another 2 hrs. I made it in white 4 ply worsted yarn & used a P hook, it is almost spring, made it for my 19 yr old grand-daughter birthday gift, I wanted it light weight. I will be making this one again.
