GAUGE: 6 hdc + 5 rows = 4 in. [10 cm]. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you less stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Work as for Back for 2 (4, 5, 6) rnds. Do not fasten off.
Neck
Sl st to first ch-2 sp.
Rnd 1: Ch 2, hdc in each hdc and ch-sp on one edge of Underpiece, hdc in each hdc and ch-sp along one edge of Back; join with sl st in top of beg ch.
Rnd 2: Ch 2, hdc in each hdc around; join with sl st in top of beg ch.
Rep last rnd 1 (3, 4, 6) more times.
Fasten off.
FINISHING
Sew sides of Underpiece to Back, leaving 2 (2½, 3, 3½) in. [5 (6.5, 7.5, 9) cm] open on each side for legs. |
