GAUGE:
6 hdc + 5 rows = 4 in. [10 cm]. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. – 11 (16, 19, 20) hdc. Inc Row: Ch 2 (counts as hdc here and throughout), turn, 2 hdc in next st,
hdc in each st to last 2 sts, 2 hdc in next st, hdc in last st – 13 (18, 21,
22) hdc. Join B, do not fasten off A.
Continue to work Stripe Color Sequence in hdc, working Inc Row every 1 (1, 2, 2)
rows 3 (3, 3, 5) more times – 19 (24, 27, 32) hdc, then work even in Stripe
Color Sequence until piece measures 12 (17, 20, 24) in. [30.5 (43, 51, 61) cm]
from beg. Fasten off.
UNDERPIECE With A, ch 5. Row 1: Hdc in 3rd ch from hook (counts as 2 hdc), hdc in each ch to end
– 4 hdc. Inc Row: Ch 2, turn, 2 hdc in next st, hdc in each st to last 2 sts, 2
hdc in next st, hdc in last st – 6 hdc. Drop A and join B.
Continue to work Stripe Color Sequence in hdc, working Inc Row every other row 1
(1, 3, 4) times – 8 (8, 12, 14) hdc, then work even in Stripe Color Sequence
until piece measures 8¼ (12¼, 16½, 18¼) in. [21 (31, 42, 46.5) cm] from beg.
Fasten off.
FINISHING
Sew sides of Underpiece to Back, leaving 2 (2½, 3, 3½) in. [5 (6.5, 7.5,
9) cm] open on each side for legs.

I made this sweater in the smallest size for my rat terrier. It was simple to make and looks very cute on him. Fit is perfect. The yarn is wonderful to work with and thick enough to keep my dog warm.
