GAUGE:

1 Granny Square = 6 in. (15 cm) square. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

STITCH EXPLANATION:

Popcorn Work 5 dc in indicated st, remove hook from loop, insert hook into first dc of 5-dc group, then back into loop of 5th dc and draw loop through.

NOTES:

1. To change color at end of a rnd, work joining sl st as follows: insert hook in joining st, yarn over with new color, draw through loops on hook to complete sl st.
2. Scarf is made of 16 squares sewn together into a strip. Follow Color Sequence to work squares, changing colors every rnd.
