GAUGE:

12 sts = 4 in. (10 cm) in Cable pattern. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you less stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

STITCH EXPLANATION:

3/3 LC (3 over 3 left cross) Slip 3 sts to cable needle and hold in front, k3, then k3 from cable needle.

PATTERN STITCHES

K2, p2 Rib (multiple of 4 sts)
Row 1: *K2, p2; rep from *.
Row 2: K the knits and p the purls.
Rep Row 2 for pattern.

Cable Pattern (multiple of 13 sts)
Rows 1, 3 and 7 (RS): *P2, k6, p2, k tbl, p1, k tbl; rep from *.
Rows 2, 4, 6, 8 (WS): *P tbl, k1, p tbl, k2, p6, k2; rep from *.
Row 5: *P2, 3/3 LC, p2, k tbl, p1, k tbl; rep from *.
Rep Rows 1-8 for Cable Pattern.

WRAP
Cast on 36 sts. Purl 1 row.
Rows 1, 3 and 7 (RS): Work Row 1 of Cable Pattern, to last 10 sts, p2, k6, p2.
Rows 2, 4, 6 and 8 (WS): K2, p6, k2, work Row 2 of Cable Pattern.
Row 5: Work Row 5 of Cable Pattern to last 10 sts, p2, 3/3 LC, p2.
Rep Rows 1-8 until piece measures 50 in. (127 cm) from beg. Bind off.

FINISHING
Lap one end of Wrap over opposite side, matching up the edges, and sew in place. Weave in ends.

HAT
Cast on 52 sts. Work in k2, p2 Rib for 3 1/2 in. (9 cm).
Rows 1, 3, and 7 (RS): P1, k tbl, p1, k tbl; work Row 1 of Cable Pattern to last 9 sts, p2, k6, p1.
Rows 2, 4, 6, and 8 (WS): K1, p6, k2; work Row 2 of Cable Pattern to last 4 sts, p tbl, k1, p tbl, k1.
Row 5: P1, k tbl, p1, k tbl; work Row 5 of Cable Pattern to last 9 sts, p2, 3/3 LC, p1.
Rep Rows 1-8 until piece measures 6 in. (15 cm) from beg, ending with Row 4.
Next Row (RS): P1, k tbl, p1, k tbl, *p2tog, 3/3 LC, p2tog, k tbl, p1, k tbl; rep from * to last 9 sts, p2tog, 3/3 LC, p1 – 45 sts.
Next Row: Purl.

FINISHING
Cut yarn, leaving a long tail. Draw tail through remaining sts and pull together tightly. Sew seam, reversing seam at ribbing. Weave in ends.

Really fast and easy knit! This was a great project that took only a week with a few hours here and there during the week to work on it. Came out looking expensive and professionally made and I haven't cabled in years! Would be a great present for a friend, very impressive looking!
