Cabled Poncho

Lion Brand® Wool-Ease® Chunky

GAUGE:

14 sts + 18 rows = 4 in. [10 cm] in cable pattern. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

STITCH EXPLANATION:

3/3 LC (3 over 3 left cross) Slip 3 sts to cable needle and hold in front, k3, then k 3 from cable needle.

PONCHO

Size S/M
Cast on 57 sts.
Rows 1, 3 and 7 (RS): *K6, (p2, k1) 3 times, p2; rep from * to last 6 sts, k6.
Rows 2 and all WS rows: *P6, (k2, p1) 3 times, k2; rep from * to last 6 sts, p6.
Row 5: *3/3 LC, (p2, k1) 3 times, p2; rep from * to last 6 sts, 3/3 LC.
Row 8 (WS): *P6, (k2, p1) 3 times, k2; rep from * to last 6 sts, p6.
Rep Rows 1-8 until piece measures 36 in. (91.5 cm) from beg.
Bind off.

Size L/1X
Cast on 63 sts.
Rows 1, 3 and 7 (RS): *K6, p3, k1, (p2, k1) twice, p3; rep from * to last 6 sts, k6.
Rows 2 and all WS rows: *P 6, k3, p1, (k2, p1) twice, k3; rep from * to last 6 sts, p6.
