Bird's Eye Turtleneck Sweater

GAUGE: 17 sts + 22 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in Bird's Eye pattern. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you less stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
STITCH EXPLANATION: PATTERN STITCH
Bird's Eye (multiple of 4 sts + 2)
Row 1 (WS): K1, *k2tog, (yo) twice, k2tog; rep from * across, end k1.
Row 2: K 1, *k1, k1 in yo of previous row, p1 in next yo, k1; rep from * across, end k1.
Row 3: K3, *k2tog, (yo) twice, k2tog; rep from * across, end k3.
Row 4: K3, *k1, k1 in yo of previous row, p1 in next yo, k1; rep from * across, end k3.

Cast on 74 (82, 90, 98, 106) sts.
Foundation Row: Knit 1 row.
Beg with Row 1, work in Bird's Eye pattern until piece measures 13 in. (33 cm) from beg, end with a WS row.
Shape Sleeve
Cast on 36 sts at beg of next 2 rows - 146 (154, 162, 170, 178) sts.
Continue working even in Bird's Eye pattern until piece measures 9 (9, 9 1/4, 9 1/4, 9 1/2) in. (23 (23, 23.5, 23.5, 24) cm) from Sleeve cast on.
Shape Collar
Bind off 42 (44, 46, 48, 50) sts at beg of next 2 rows - 62 (66, 70, 74, 78) sts. Continue working even in Bird's Eye pattern for 12 in. (30.5 cm). Bind off loosely. |  |

FINISHING
