Braided Hood

Lion Brand« Wool-Ease« Thick & Quick«

GAUGE:

10 stitches + 20 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in Garter stitch (knit every row). When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Making a Gauge Swatch

HOOD
Cast on 17 stitches. Work in Garter stitch (knit every row) until piece measures 17 in. (43 cm) from beginning. Bind off. Fold piece in half and sew back seam.

Bind off. Mark center of Braid length and center back of Hat. Sew Braid along back edge of Hat, matching marked centers, with equal lengths of Braid hanging free on each side.

Agree, 1+ balls Reviewed by Shelly Bagchi on 2012-02-26 ****
This hat is really cute! Luckily I had extra yarn since it does use 1 and 1/4-1/2 balls.
