Lion Brand® Fishermen's Wool®

16 sts + 24 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in OXOX Cable pattern, slightly stretched. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Cast on 194 sts.
Row 1: Work 5 sts in Garter st (k every row), 1 st in Twisted Knit, (12 sts in OXOX Cable, 1 st in Twisted Knit, 20 sts in Clustered Braid, 1 st in Twisted Knit) 5 times, 12 sts in OXOX Cable, 1 st in Twisted knit, 5 sts in Garter st.
Work in patterns as established until piece measures 60 in. (152.5 cm) from beginning. Bind off loosely.

TASSEL (make 4)

Wrap yarn around cardboard 50 times. Cut a piece of yarn about 12 in. (30.5 cm) long and thread doubled onto large-eyed blunt needle. Insert needle under all strands at upper edge of cardboard. Pull tightly and knot securely near strands. Cut yarn loops at lower edge of cardboard. Cut another piece of yarn about 18 in. (46 cm) long and wrap tightly around loops below top knot to form Tassel neck. Knot securely; thread ends onto needle and weave ends to center of Tassel. Trim Tassel ends evenly. Attach a Tassel to each corner of Afghan.

Lover's Knot Afghan Reviewed by Elizabeth Robinson on 2015-05-14 *****
Kathy, you slip the six stitches that you just worked onto the cable needle. The you take your working yarn - it should be on the left side of those six stitches now - and wrap it across the front of the six stitches from left to right, and then across the back from right to left until it gets back to where it started. You've just completed one counterclockwise wrap. Repeat that process three more times. Don't wrap too tightly, and try to align the wrapping yarn neatly into four rows. When you've finished your four wraps, your working yarn should be right where it began, on the left side of the stitches on the cable needle. Now slip those six stitches back onto your right needle - it'll be a bit snug, but they should transfer over easily - and then resume the pattern.
