Cable Vision

Lion Brand® Wool-Ease®

GAUGE:

22 sts + 24 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in Broken Cable pattern. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

STITCH EXPLANATION:

6/6 LC (6 over 6 left cross) Slip 6 sts to cable needle and hold in front, k6, then k6 from cable needle.
6/6 RC (6 over 6 right cross) Slip 6 sts to cable needle and hold in back, k6, then k6 from cable needle.

PATTERN STITCHES
Broken Cable
Row 1 (RS): K 8, *6/6 RC, k16; rep from * across to last 8 sts, k8.
Rows 2, 4, 6 and 8: K6, purl to last 6 sts, k6.
Rows 3, 5 and 7: Knit.
Row 9: K8, *k14, 6/6 LC, k2; rep from * across to last 8 sts, k8.
Rows 10-16: Rep Rows 2-8.
Rep Rows 1-16 for Broken Cable pattern.

K2, p2 Rib
Rnd 1: *K2, p2; rep from *.
Rnd 2: K the knit sts and p the purl sts.
Rep Row 2 for K2, p2 Rib.

NOTES:

1) Poncho is worked from back lower edge to front lower edge.
2) Due to the large number of sts, poncho is worked back and forth on circular needle.
Lion Brand Online Stitch Counter

PONCHO
Beg at back lower edge, cast on 268 (296, 324) sts.
Rows 1 (RS)-7: Knit.
Row 8 and 10: K6, purl to last 6 sts, k6.
Rows 9 and 11: Knit.
Row 12: K6, purl to last 6 sts, k6.
Work in Broken Cable pattern until piece measures 20 (22, 24) in. (51 (56, 61) cm) from beg, end with a WS row.
Shape Neck
Work in Broken Cable pattern over first 120 (134, 148) sts, join a 2nd ball of yarn, bind off 28 sts for neck, work in pattern to end of row. Working both sides at the same time, with separate balls of yarn, continue in Broken Cable pattern for 4 in. (10 cm), end with a WS row.
Next Row: Work in Broken Cable pattern over first 120 (134, 148) sts, cast on 28 sts, break off 2nd ball of yarn, work in pattern to end of row.
Continue in Broken Cable pattern until front measures 1 in. (1.5 cm) shorter than back, end with a RS row.
Knit 6 rows.
Bind off.

FINISHING
Collar
From RS with smaller circular needle, pick up and k 120 sts evenly spaced around neck opening. Join, being careful not to twist sts. Place marker for beg of round. Work in K2, p2 Rib for 4 in. (10 cm). Bind off in Rib. Weave in ends.
