Whiter Shade Of Pale Car Coat
Lion Brand® Wool-Ease® Thick & Quick®
GAUGE:
7 sts (2 1/4 V-sts) = 3 in. (7.5 cm); 17 rows = 18 in. (45.5 cm) in V-st pattern. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Whiter Shade Of Pale Car Coat Reviewed by Jennifer Ambrose on 2009-12-21
I made this in taupe, the finished product is nice looking, but I didn't like the sleeve shaping and they are a bit annoying but I'm not going to rip them out and do them again, that would make the task tedious for me. I did the collar separately like the directions said, I wish I had done like a previous reviewer and crocheted the collar onto the piece.
For anyone who wants to make this pattern with a lighter yarn, you don't need a new pattern, just make a gauge swatch with the yarn you want to use, and increase the needle size as necessary. Also, because this is a simple V-stitch pattern, just calculate the multiple and increase the stitches as necessary.
