Rnd 1: (Ch 5, sc in ring) 7 times, ch 3, dc in joining sl st (counts as ch-sp) – 8 ch-sps.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in ch-sp just made, [ch 9, (sc, ch 3, sc) in next ch-5 sp, ch 5, (sc, ch 3,
sc) in next ch-5 sp] 3 times, ch 9, (sc, ch 3, sc) in next ch-5 sp, ch 5, sc in beginning ch-sp, ch
3; join with sl st in first sc – 4 ch-9 sps and 4 ch-5 sps.
Fasten off.
Second Motif
Rnd 1: Work as for Rnd 1 of First Motif.
Rnd 2 (joining rnd): Ch 1, sc in ch-sp just made, ch 4, sl st in 5th ch of any ch-9 sp of
First motif, ch 4, (sc, ch 3, sc) in next ch-5 sp of Second Motif, ch 2, sl st in 3rd ch of next
ch-5 sp of First Motif, ch 2, (sc, ch 3, sc) in next ch-5 sp of Second Motif, ch 4, sl st in 5th ch
of next ch-9 sp of First Motif, ch 4, (sc, ch 3, sc) in next ch-5 sp of Second Motif (sides of First
and Second Motifs joined); complete as for Rnd 2 of First Motif.
Fasten off.
Third Motif
Work as for Second Motif, joining lower edge of Third Motif to top edge of First Motif.
Fourth Motif
Work as for Second Motif, joining one side of Fourth Motif to side of Third Motif, and lower
edge of Fourth Motif to top of Second Motif.
Continue to make and join Motifs as established until Scarf measures 90 in. (228.5 cm) long.
Fasten off.
