17 sts + 24 rows = 4 in. [10 cm] in Stockinette st (k on RS, p on WS). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The Road Scarf Reviewed by Katrina Siegrist on 2013-01-04
I loved working with the various patterns and the scarf turned out nicely. I varied the pattern a bit because this was for a six year old and I didn't want it dragging on the ground. I narrowed the border (2 st a side) and I narrowed the place for the pattern and I shortened the whole thing-- it took one skein. Perhaps the narrow border is why I am a bit unhappy with how the mesh part curls under. I don't think I would be a fan of the mesh part for a warm scarf, anyway. It's pretty and fun to knit, but if I knit this again, I will swap that one out for another pattern. Lion Brand website staff was amazing when I got stuck with the sugar cube part-- explaining what a knit (think v) and purl (think bubble) stitch looks like so I could understand the instructions for this pattern.
