GAUGE:

9 hdc + 6 rnds = 4 in. (10 cm). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

STITCH EXPLANATION:

hdc2tog (hdc dec) Yarn over, insert hook into st and draw up a loop. Yarn over, insert hook into next st and draw up a loop. Yarn over and draw through all 5 loops on hook.

Oversized Beret Reviewed by JLC on 2010-01-16 *****
I made this hat in Raspberry and love it. It is big and sort of funny looking, but it's really comfy. It's not the warmest hat because of the larger holes in the weave. I've gotten a few compliments on it already.

Here's a photo of my blender wearing the hat.
