GAUGE:
8 sts + 10 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in St st (k on RS, p on WS) with 2 strands held together. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you less stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

PANEL 1
With 1 strand each of A and B held tog, cast on 24 sts. Work in St st (k on RS, p on WS) in the following sequence:
18 rows with 1 strand each of A and B held tog.
6 rows with 1 strand each of A and C held tog.
14 rows with 1 strand each of C and D held tog.
26 rows with 1 strand each of D and E held tog.
6 rows with 1 strand each of E and F held tog.
36 rows with 1 strand each of F and G held tog.
14 rows with 1 strand each of G and H held tog.
Bind off.
PANEL 2
With 1 strand each of H and J held tog, cast on 24 sts.
Work in St st in the following sequence:
14 rows with 1 strand each of H and J held tog.
36 rows with 1 strand each of F and J held tog.
6 rows with 1 strand each of F and K held tog.
26 rows with 1 strand each of A and K held tog.
14 rows with 1 strand each of A and G held tog.
6 rows with 1 strand each of B and G held tog.
18 rows with 1 strand each of B and E held tog.
Bind off.
PANEL 3
