GAUGE:

17 sts + 24 rows=4 in. [10cm] in Stockinette st worked in the round (knit all rnds). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Lace Beanie Reviewed by Gail Brown on 2009-11-18 *****
This is the first hat I've made,
and my first time using double
pointed needles. Once I got it
started I was fine until I had
90 stitches. Then I had trouble
with stitches dropping off the
end of the needles, until I
switched to a size 8 circular
needle upon reaching the lace
part of the hat. This worked
very well and I have already
given two hats away to chemo
patients. Thanks so much for
the pattern.
