GAUGE:

14 sc + 17 rows = 4 in. (10 cm). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

STITCH EXPLANATION:

sc2tog (sc decrease) Insert hook into st and draw up a loop. Insert hook into next st and draw up a loop. Yarn over, draw through all 3 loops on hook.

NOTES:

1) Kitten is worked in continuous rnds, do not join or turn unless otherwise instructed. Place a marker for beg of rnd. Move marker up as each rnd is completed.
2) To change color, work last st of old color until 2 loops remain on hook, yarn over with new color, draw yarn through 2 loops on hook to complete stitch.

Crochet Kitten Reviewed by Denise Newsome on 2009-03-19 ****
My daughter loved the blanket and the kitten and puppy. I thought the legs at the top looked a little out of proportion with the rest of the body. They seemed a little too long. Overall, I was pleased with how it turned out and how much my daughter loved it.
