Squared Afghan
Lion Brand® Vanna's Choice®
GAUGE:
1 Square = 14 x 14 in. (35.5 x 35.3 cm). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
NOTES:
Editor's Note: In response to customer comments, we have rewritten this pattern. Please note that this afghan is created with a technique that will not create precisely square pieces, and is not meant to lay perfectly flat.
If you are experiencing cupping of your squares (which tends to happen if you are crocheting more tightly), work more loosely or switch to a larger hook.

I'm a novice crocheter and made this blanket for my college age daughter. In spite of the blocks not being square I had no problem sewing them together and my blanket lays flat once I blocked it. Those having issues with the pattern might want to consider going up a size of their hooks to make the stitches looser. That's what I did.
