GAUGE:

14 sc + 12 rnds = 4 in. (10 cm). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

STITCH EXPLANATION:

Elfin Baby Set Reviewed by AngieLuila S. Bradley on 2009-11-01 ****
I made this for my son. It was a little too high in back, didn't go down as far as I wanted it to. Rather than skip the stitches across the back I worked them following the pattern. I put in one decrease stitch on each side just behind the ear flaps, for 3 rows then worked the rest of the rows according to the pattern. It was a perfect fit. I loved it and it was so cute on that is was totally worth the time.
