Lion Brand® Wool-Ease®
GAUGE:
About 13 (12, 10.5) sts = 4 in. (10 cm) in pattern stitch using size G-6 (4 mm), (H-8 (5 mm), OR I-9 (5.5 mm) ) crochet hook. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
STITCH EXPLANATION:

Spike Stitch Socks Reviewed by Kim Martin on 2009-02-26
I made these for my 4 year old daughter, who has large feet. I used the size 9 crochet hook and peaches and cream cotton stripes yarn. I am fairly new to needle crafts, and ran into a few problems and ended up turning the sock the other way (making the toe on the other end) because I made the starting row a wee bit too tight and my daughter was unable to get them on her feet. Plus, I made the spike stitches symmetrical instead of staggered (this was also an accident, but I went with it.) Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this pattern. Aside from my own amateur mistakes, it worked up easily and it only took me a few hours to make both socks.
