GAUGE: 11 sts + 9 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in hdc. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
STITCH EXPLANATION: | Hdc2tog (hdc dec) Yarn over, insert hook into st and draw up a loop, yarn over, insert hook into next st and draw up a loop. Yarn over and draw through all loops on hook. |

| This was my first successful attempt at making a sweater after many tries. It fits well and is very comfortable. I wore it to church and received many compliments. I made the sleeves longer and put a contrasting trim around the sleeves and neck. Now I will use this pattern to make many more sweaters. Thanks for posting this pattern.
