Downloadable Pattern: Graphic Elements Tote
Lion Brand® Wool-Ease®
GAUGE: 14 sts + 19 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in St st (k on RS, p on WS) with 2 strands of yarn held together. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
NOTES: Bag is worked with 2 strands of yarn held together throughout. Carry colors not in use loosely along the wrong side of work. Pick up new color from under old color to twist yarns and prevent holes.

FRONT
With 2 strands of A held together, cast on 61 sts.
Rows 1-14: With 2 strands of A held together, work in St st (k on RS p on WS). Join 2 strands of B, and work Rows 1-27 of Snowflake chart.
When chart has been completed, work 40 rows in St st with 2 strands of A held together.
Bind off.
BACK
Work same as Front.
FINISHING
Sew Front and Back together, leaving about 5 1/2 in. (14 cm) at top of each side seam unsewn.
LINING (optional)
Cut a 18 x 24 in. (46 x 61 cm) length of fabric. Fold in half to form a 12 x 18 in. (30.5 x 46 cm) piece. Using a 1/2 in. allowance, seam both short sides. Fold 1 1/2 in. (3.8 cm) to WS on remaining raw edge for top of lining. Slip lining into Bag, with top edge of lining just below side seam opening. Slipstitch top edge of lining to Bag.
Handles
Center one handle about 3.5 in. (3 cm) down from bound-off edge on WS of Back. Wrap bound-off edge to WS of Bag over handle, creating gathers, and sew to inside of Bag. Attach remaining handle to Front. Weave in ends.
