GAUGE: 22 sts = 4 in. (10 cm) in St st (k on RS, p on WS) with smaller needles.
EXACT GAUGE IS NOT ESSENTIAL FOR THIS PROJECT.
BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you less stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

BRACELET
COVER STRIP
With smaller needles, cast on 44 sts.
Work in St st (k on RS, p on WS) until piece measures 1/2 in. [1.3 cm] from beginning, end with a WS row.
Row 1: Knit, increase 23 sts evenly spaced across - 67 sts.
Row 2 (WS): Change to larger needles. K1, *k2, p4, rep from * across.
Row 3: *K4, p2, rep from * to last st, end p1.
Row 4: Rep Row 2.
Row 5: K1, *slip next 2 sts to a cable needle and hold at back, k2, k2 from cable needle, p2, rep from * across.
Rows 6-9: Rep Rows 2-5.
Rows 10 and 12: Rep Row 2.
Row 11: K1, *k4, p2, rep from * across.
Row 12: Change to smaller needles. Purl, decrease 23 sts evenly spaced across- 44 sts.
Work in St st until piece measures 3 1/2 in. [9 cm] from beginning. Bind off.
FINISHING
Sew ends of strip together. Wrap strip around purchased bracelet, with St st portion to inside of bracelet. Sew strip edges together. Weave in ends. |
