Note: When instructed to work a st into a popcorn (PC), work the st where the dropped loop was pulled through, not into the ch-1.

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across – 21 sc.
Row 2 (Popcorn Row): Ch 3, turn, sk first sc, PC in next sc, dc in next 3 sc, (PC in next sc, dc in next 3 sc) 4 times – 5 PC at the end of this row.
Row 3: Ch 1, turn, sc in first 3 dc, sc in next PC, (sc in next 3 dc, sc in next PC) 4 times, sc in top of turning ch – 21 sc at the end of this row
Row 4 (Popcorn Row): Ch 3, turn, sk first sc, dc in next 2 sc, (PC in next sc, dc in next 3 sc) 4 times, PC in next sc, dc in last sc – 5 PC at the end of this row.
Row 5: Ch 1, turn, sc in first dc, sc in next PC, (sc in next 3 dc, sc in next PC) 4 times, sc in next 2 dc, sc in top of turning ch.

Row 2: Ch 3, turn, sk first dc, dc in next 3 dc, ch 2, sk first 2 dc of next shell, (sc, ch 3, sc) in ch-2 sp of shell, ch 2, sk last 2 dc of shell, dc in next 4 dc, ch 2, sk first 2 dc of next shell, (sc, ch 3, sc) in ch-2 sp of shell, ch 2, sk last 2 dc of shell, dc in next 3 dc, dc in top of turning ch.

SHELL AND V-ST SQUARE (make 5)
Ch 27.
Row 1 (RS): (2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in 7th ch from hook (shell made), *sk next 3 ch, (dc, ch 2, dc) in next ch (V-st made), sk next 3 ch, (2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in next ch (shell made); rep from * once more, sk next 3 ch, dc in last ch – 3 shells, 2 V-sts at the end of this row.
Row 2: Ch 3, turn, shell in ch-3 sp of first shell, *V-st in ch-2 sp of next V-st, shell in ch-3 sp of next shell; rep from * once more, dc in top of turning ch.
Rep last row until piece measures 7 1/2 in. (19 cm) from beg.
Final Row: Ch 6, turn, sl st in ch-3 sp of first shell, *ch 3, V-st in ch-2 sp of next V-st, ch 3, sl st in ch-3 sp of next shell; rep from * once more, ch 3, dc in top of turning ch.
Fasten off.
DIAMOND SQUARE (make 5)
Beg at lower edge, ch 25.
Row 1 (WS): Dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in each ch across – 23 dc (counting beg ch as first dc).
Row 2 (RS): Ch 3, turn, working in back loops only, sk first dc, dc in each dc across, dc in top of turning ch.
Row 3: Ch 3, turn, working in both loops, sk first dc, dc in each dc across, dc in top of turning ch.
Rep Rows last 2 rows 4 more times, then rep Row 2 once more (for a total of 12 rows). Piece should measure approximately 8 in. (20.5 cm) from beg.
Fasten off.
Chain Loop Diamond Pattern
Notes: Ch loops are worked over the front surface of Square to form a diamond pattern. The pattern is worked in the free loops of the first and all odd-numbered rows.
First Loop Row (worked into free loops of Row 1 of Square): With RS facing, join yarn with sc in free loop of 3rd dc of Row 1 of Square, *ch 11, sk next 5 dc, sc in free loop of next dc of Row 1; rep from * 2 more times – 3 ch-11 loops. Fasten off.
Second Loop Row (worked into free loops of Rows 3 and 5 of Square): With RS facing, join yarn with sc in free loop of 3rd dc of Row 5 of Square, ch 5, insert hook around ch-11 below and also into free loop of 6th dc of Row 3 of Square, yarn over and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through both loops on hook (sc around ch-11 and dc completed); *ch 11, insert hook around next ch-11, sk next 5 dc of Row 3, insert hook into free loop of next dc of Row 3 and work sc around ch-11 and dc; rep from * one more time, ch 5, sc in free loop of 3rd dc from end of Row 5. Fasten off.
Third Loop Row (worked into free loops of Row 5 of Square): With RS facing, join yarn with sl st in first sc of Second Loop Row, *ch 11, sk next 5 dc of Row 5 of Square, insert hook around ch-11 below and in free loop of next dc of Row 5 and work sc around ch-11 and dc; rep from * one more time, ch 11, sl st in last sc of Second Loop Row. Fasten off.
Fourth Loop Row (worked into free loops of Rows 7 and 9 of Square): With RS facing, join yarn with sc in free loop of 3rd dc of Row 9 of Square, ch 5, insert hook around ch-11 below and in free loop of 6th dc of Row 7 of Square and work sc around ch-11 and dc; *ch 11, insert hook around next ch-11, sk next 5 dc or Row 7, insert hook in free loop of next dc of Row 7 and work sc around ch-11 and dc; rep from * one more time, ch 5, sc in free loop of 3rd dc from end of Row 9. Fasten off.
Fifth Loop Row (worked into free loops of Rows 9 and 11 of Square): With RS facing, join yarn with sl st in first sc of Fourth Loop Row, ch 5, work sc in free loop of 5th dc of Row 11 of Square, ch 5, insert hook around ch-11 below, sk next 5 dc of Row 9 of Square, insert hook in free loop of next dc of Row 9 and work sc around ch-11 and dc, ch 5, sk next 5 dc of Row 11, sc in free loop of next dc of Row 11, ch 5, sk next 5 dc of Row 9, insert hook around next ch-11 and in free loop of next dc of Row 9, and work sc around ch-11 and dc; ch 5, sk next 5 dc of Row 11, sc in free loop of next dc of Row 11, ch 5, sl st in last sc of Fourth Loop Row.

BORDER
Note: Work Border around each Square.
Join yarn with sl st in any corner of Square.
Rnd 1: Ch 1, sc evenly around all edges of Square, working 3 sc in each corner; join with sl st in first sc.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in each sc around, working 3 sc in each corner; join with sl st in first sc.
Fasten off. Rep Border around every Square.
FINISHING
Sew Squares tog as shown in Assembly Diagram.
Border
Join yarn with sl st in any corner of Throw.
Rnd 1: Ch 1, sc evenly around all edges of Throw, working 3 sc in each corner; join with sl st in first sc.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in each sc around, working 3 sc in each corner; join with sl st in first sc.
Rep last rnd until border measures 2 in. (5 cm).
Fasten off.
